Bali’s New Royal Retreat
The Chiva Som in Thailand is the name that comes to mind when thinking
of healthy retreats in Asia, but new retreats are developing in the
region, such as one in Bali which is determined to be a worthy alternative
for those seeking South a body-bending-and-cleansing vacation. Prana
Spa and Villas, owned and operated by Australian Jim Elliott, has
just kicked off its spa retreat programme with a new Mogul-inspired
spa facility.
If you’re looking for relaxation rather
than a workout, the spa treatments are bliss. Prana’s
newly built day spa complex, with its rich turmeric yellow, scalloped
archways and other 16th century Mogul palace motifs, like Persian
carpets and spiraling turrets, is a foil to the Zen-styled spa. Prana
is a full-fledged spa with hot and cold plunge pools (the most
effective I’ve ever experienced), rain baths, sauna and steam
rooms, with separate areas for beauty treatments like manicures.
